you are so right
By frustrated beyond belief

Clip to ScrapBook
I learned mine in third grade. It was expected of me and my parents would have accepted no less!! These kids really do NOT care! It drives me nuts when they are counting up on their fingers. I too give the timed test and
they can't get past the first row (of 5 because they are trying to count it out). I have tried to impress upon them the importance of learning them because they can't move on to other things in fourth grade if they don't know them. You are right, they have no shame. They have a "so what?" attitude! I am truly frustrated and then I am held accountable because I didn't teach them what
they should know. Thanks for your input. I'm sorry you are still having trouble with your fifth graders but I'm glad to know I'm not alone. I was feeling like the worst teacher (especially since our district has been low in Math on the state tests and we have been told we better bring them up!)
Thanks for letting me vent--I guess I should have posted on the Vent Board. Anyway, thanks!
