Measurement Olympics
By Elaine

Clip to ScrapBook
Carolyn,
I have a wonderful idea I plan to use with my students when we do measurement. I can't take credit for the idea though because I believe I got right here on the Boards last summer. Hold a Measuement Olympics.
You set up several different stations for measurement activities for students to work through. Depending on the way you set it up it could be integrated with science as well. Here is one Measurement Olympics event I thought held promise:
*place a cotton ball on a starting line; blow through a straw on the cotton ball; measure how far the cotton ball moved
I'm sorry I can't remember
other events off the top of my head. Maybe this is enough to get your creative juices going. If you are interested, I'll try to find where I saved that activity description on my computer. Just let me know.
Elaine
