Investigations (TERC)
By Erica

Clip to ScrapBook
I never thought that so many teachers out of my district had even heard of the Investigations Curriculum! As a first year teacher, I like the fact that the students are really beginning to understand Mathematics as they
explore different topics that build on one another. However, I know that these students need some basic skills that they obviously do not have. That is why I am online almost 24/7 looking for other resources to filter in when I can that can help the students grasp concepts that they should have already grasped according to the Investigations curriculum! This is the first year of Implementing
this program in my District, and I see that though things look good and may even sound right on paper, the implementation throughout the district isn't as successful as they would have hoped. Anyway, my big problem with fractions right now is that students who don't know their multiplication and division are at a loss when it comes to adding fractions. I try to resort back to the old basal text that they used to use , but I don't know where else to tackle this and other unforeseen problems from! How have your experiences been using this program?
