GOOD LUCK
By GOOGS

Clip to ScrapBook
I'd like to begin on a "negative" note. Not any course in college will prepare you for teaching completely. You get (at least in my experience) textbook "real life" topics to analyze for a couple of weeks and then come
up with a great lesson plan, hypothetically, to deal with this situation. I've learned the most on the job. No matter how hard it has been, I can't ask for a job I'd rather be at. It's a job that you can constantly improve at; because as Halle Barry said, it's more than about me. That is what teaching is--you get paid less; respected less; but the important thing, it's not about you.
It's more than that. College classes do prepare you but not as much as you think! You have to realize that the real teaching of yourself will happen when you are teaching. Don't get down on yourself and be prepared to constantly try and improve your style of teaching. It's an amazing job! Good LUCK!
