College

Hi Keri,

You are lucky you know what you want to do already! I spent 2 years in college wandering aimlessly! Basically at my school (Northern Arizona University) you take 2 years worth of basic, core classes (called liberal
studies) like Becky said. At my school you have to take math, english, social sciences, lab sciences, and art classes. You get to pick from a long list of courses under each of those headings. Then, finally , you get to take your education classes! I am currently taking intro to ed., early childhood curriculum, math for elem. teachers, educational psychology and 2 more leftover liberal
studies classes. I have 1 semester left of education classes before I get into my methods courses (the classes that teach you how to teach) and then after that I have 1 semester of student teaching. Programs vary from college to college. I am currently looking at schools in Maryland as I will be moving there in 2 months, so I'll probably have to start over again w/my education classes. Well, I think I am mindlessly blabbering, so I'll go now. Please post if you have any questions or need clarification!

Laura
