Writing Project
By Diana Flener

Clip to ScrapBook
How about "Window Writing"? It is a daily writing activity. You don't have to have an exciting window either. Students take turns daily looking out the window and recording what they see for about 5 minutes in a journal. Teacher does this also. These writings can take the form of jotted down entries, lists of what is seen, an inspired poem, the beginning of a story. The teacher plays a big part of modeling. Students and teacher takes turns on different days sharing what they have written. (teacher shares daily for awhile to show students an example.) Alternate the times of day that students go to the window. For example, Susie Q does not always need to be the first one at the window every day.
