math ideas
By Sarah

Clip to ScrapBook
I had trouble with math sometimes when i was in school too.

Adding and subtracting with negative numbers.

Here's what worked for me....the depiction and manipulation of the numbers along the number line. I am sure you're familiar with this....where you have a line, sort of like a ruler and it starts at say -10 and goes to the right all the way to 10. This sort of visual aid is sometimes just the thing to help the concept sink in.

Order of operations
- How about the mnemonic PEMDAS- Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sallie, a.k.a. Parenthesis, Multiplication, Division (interchangably important), Addition, Subtraction (also interchangably important, taken from right to left as they come)
