I agree with Laura. Your best bet is a pair of nice pants (I swear by my khakis and a pair of black dress pants and a skirt) with a sweater or a blouse and perhaps a blazer. You can dress professionally this way, but still be comfortable enough to allow you to be flexible in your observation duties--sitting on the floor with a group,painting, taking them out for recess, etc.
