Like Tara said, each grade does have advantages and disadvantages. In the older grades, there is more opportunity to develop deep relationships, but will also be more likely to challenge your judgement, assignments, etc. In the younger grades, the students are likely to be compliant, but with much direction. They are also extremely loving and caring.

I would recommend "trying" out as many grade levels as you can while you are in school. As you meet teachers, ask if they will allow you to observe their classroom. Most are glad to comply. This will allow you to observe the student's cognitive, behavioral, and emotional levels at varying levels (as well as networking).
