Most school districts/states have a curriculum to be taught for each grade level. When we sign a contract to teach in that state/district we agree to teach that curriculum.
If students in your grade level are expected to write in cursive, then you should follow that expectation.
Although society accepts our print via computers and typewriters, adults are expected to read and write cursive. We as teachers are responsible to teach them these skills.
Many forms do say please print, but that is to insure accuracy and because many Dr. offices etc do not provide typewriters /computers etc for us to use.
As a primary teacher I expect my students to learn to print and although I accept temp. spelling I expect them to spell correctly. When my students begin to write I often have to decode their product, but because I insist, they improve. You should insist also., offerring options within reason for children with special needs but insist.
