Upper Elem. Centers
By Red

Clip to ScrapBook
YES!!! Centers are a wonderful thing for 4,5,&6th grades, I love centers. In my classroom I have a writing center, a reading center, a social studies center, and a word puzzle center. My kids love them.
In the writing
center I have had picture books that the kids read and write about. Story starters for the kids to finish. I have made-up words and then asked the kids to write a paragraph about what they think it is (example:Quixonuat write a paragraph tell your teacher in a many details as possible what you think a quixonuat is) I know this sounds silly but it is a lot of fun and calls on some
higher level thinking skills. When we were learning to use adjectives I put an apple in the center and asked them to describe it to a blind person.

If you need more ideas I will gladly share, just ask...good luck! Red.
