playdough centre

Clip to ScrapBook
I have letter cookie cutters and my students cut out their spelling words. Here's a great recipe for homemade playdough that takes forever to dry out.
Mix: 2 cups flour, 2 cups water, 2 tbsp. cream of tartar, 1 cup salt,
2 tbsp. oil.
Add food colouring of your choice.
Put into large pot. Stir over low heat until a ball is formed and cooked through. I put on waxed paper to cool and store in a zip lock bag. Fool proof.

Here's another one you can make in class. It dries out quicker but students can take home that day. If you have a parent volunteer, you could make it at one centre and play with

at another.

Mix: 3 cups flour, 3 tbsp. oil, 1 1/2 cups warm water, 1/2 cup salt. Add 1 package desired colour of kool-aid.
Voila playdough!

Hope these ideas inspire someone!
Joanne
