Clip to ScrapBook
Here are some ideas that I have tried:
-We have just started spelling, so one center is devoted to it. I leave a list of the words and the students had to to stamp out the words. This week I'm using magnetic letters.
Next week I will be making into a listening center. I will tape my voice spelling the words and they have to write them.
-Make patterns with snap cubes.
-Writing center-make cards or write letters
-Graphing-Use a large poster board and die-cut items (for example I used pumpkins, ghosts, leaves, and witches for Halloween), put the cut-outs on the poster board in random order, then
have sheet with a graph on it and they have to draw how many of each item is on it. (I don't put more than 5 of each cut-out on it and of course each one is different number)
-Puzzles
-Sequencing activities-Draw a snowman in it's stage of melting for example.
-Cut out alphabet patterns for them to trace that are large then have them draw on them or paste items on them. For example, feathers on F, leaves on L, glitter on G, beans on B, etc.
-Animal shape patterns-Have them trace the pattern and then decorate it
-CVC paper bags- Have three paper bags labelled CVC, put consonant letter cards in the C bags and vowel letter cards in the V bag, the student reaches in and pulls out a letter from each paper to make a word, and then they write the word.

I hope these ideas help. Also I have found ideas at theideabox.com as well as the magazine Mailbox.
