1st grade centers By Tara

I am a first grade teacher in a catholic school in Philadelphia with a classroom the size of a refrigerator. I have 28 students, and centers are my sanity!!! I use portable centers, where all the suppies are kept in laundry| baskets, shoe boxes, buckets, dishwasing tubs, etc. I pick 5 students who are in charge of setting up the centers, and it works like clockwork. I have this greeting card center which is a favorite with the kids. In one of my containers i store paper, stamps, stickers, and old greeting cards. I also have a class list posted on chart paper, with a small picture of each child next | | to their name. The students create greeting cards for each other. Only catch, they must write a message in their card, not just stickers on paper!! This gives them a purpose, and gives me an accountable product. The true route to successful centers is organization and simplicity. Any more questions, just write back or email me directly. My mom always taught me to share!!!!!
