Your center activities sound very much like what we used to term a 'carousel' of activities. Since the implementation or the literacy and numeracy strategies in the U.K, we can still use some of these ideas to a certain extent in our daily literacy and numeracy hours - but our morning sessions are very much more prescriptive. We have to spend time with at least two groups during the 20 minutes of the hour that is set aside for independent work. Thanks for taking the time to reply to my silly question! I love finding out about the U.S education system, this site is great for that.
