This is in Eastern OR. Things are probably different in the western part of our state since it has more numbers, and money. I'm in the reg. classroom now, but before I earned my degree I used to be a sped assistant (teaching responsibilities without the pay). We seemed to have money for equipment (therapy, wheelchairs, etc) but none for curriculum. I scrounged books, sheets, and ideas from my teacher friends in regular classrooms. The materials I found in our classroom actually had people wearing afro's and bellbottoms! It appears to be the same in the school I now teach in. The students have state of the art equipment, only now I'm the one the assistants come to for materials. Having been in their shoes, I'm only too glad to help them out with whatever I can.
