sixth grade --"LONG" and HELP!!
By Meg

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach sixth grade in an inner city school. I haven't taught anywhere else, just a different district last year. My students drain me every day. They are extremely HORMONAL. I taught 7th last year and they were worse.
It is sad that these kids can't focus on their work because all day they look at each other googly eyed, tried to get touchy, so I am constantly policing my classroom. This does not seem like the norm to me. Does anyone else go through this?

The girls are constantly loud and gossipy and the boys just seem to play into this entire fiasco. Every day is filled with some kind of drama.

The

Pros? If I could tape my classes, I would have some excellent footage to do a weekly sitcom. I have also thought of writing a book one day about the trials and errors of teaching 6th graders. Even though they wear me down, they are silly and can make me laugh!!

I am not certified to teach elementary--I'm sure it has it's pros and cons. I might try high school next year, but I am not sure. I just want my studetns to PAY ATTENTION! Their education is too important to me even if they don't care.
