    Well, Elaine and everyone.

    I must confess I loved the Snickett series. My older son loved them too.

    In the second book, the good guy who gets killed is, well, so good as to be totally ignorant of what is going on with the poor children. That generally is the premise of these books. Every adult is totally oblivious to what the children try to tell them. It is tense and hilarious at the same time.

    As far as being literature goes -- I certainly don't think that they are anything to sneeze at. They have a unique style. And, the author's warnings about the dire endings only serve to whet the appetite for more.
