I am a fourth grade teacher and just finished reading Harry Potter to my class. I think you would find it too long and full of some difficult concepts for younger students. You might consider reading just excerpts. It is a story full of rich details. I think you would be uncomfortable with explaining to 2nd graders that Harry's parents are murdered and that some"one" is trying to kill him too!
