Guided vs. Circles
By Elaine

Clip to ScrapBook
I'm not so sure about Guided Reading -- I have the book (Guiding Readers and Writers) but have not read it yet. I have done lit circles, however, and appreciate the element of choice for my students. I do think (and I could be wrong) that there is a self-selected independent reading component that goes hand-in-hand with the guided reading concept. I hope some others will respond with more informed information for you and me. I loop with my students from 4th to 5th and feel I am their last shot at becoming life-long readers before they go off to the crazy, busy life at middle school. Any advice/info. would be greatly appreciated.
Elaine
