I currently am a student teacher and I have found two books that are magnificent picture books that you may be able to use. The names of them are ZOOM, and RE-ZOOM. You can purchase them at Amazon.com (6.99 Zoom, 7.99 Re-zoom both soft cover). I am currently in a second grade classroom and we are studying communities and groups. We looked through the book, and now are in the process of creating a community book based on our social studies curriculum. You can adapt it to your needs. It also could work well as an art project.
