Persuasive Writing
By Cheryl

Clip to ScrapBook
Read them a story that has this writing style (for example "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs"). Then talk about the features of a persuasive text. Compare the features to the story you read. Then, teacher model (you write and the students watch). Shared writing (write one together as a group). Each time you should be focussing on the key features. Later, give them a graphic organizer to plan their story and finally have them write one. Everyday I would probably read them a different text and talk about the key features before I started my mini-lesson.
What grade do you teach? I have a list of book titles for both primary and junior grades.
Hope this helps!
