Other Read Alouds

My students LOVE Holes too! It is funny to me because I haven't had the time to read it consistently everyday, and some of the students went to the school and public libraries to get it!! Louis Sachar and Jerry Spinelli
are both great authors for this age group. (I teach 5th and have read many posts and emails on other sites where teachers felt it was innappropriate for students younger than 7th grade.)
Louis Sachar's The Boy Who Lost HiS Face and Dogs Don't Tell Jokes are both popular with my kids as well. Jerry Spinelli has plenty of books thatt are popular with my students,and other students of this

age group. Maniac Magee, Wringer, and The Library Card are just a few of the titles that I have read a lot of great comments about. Try searching on the internet for more titles by both of these authors.
