I can think of a few picture books about immigration that you might could use and have them do two while the better readers are tackling one book. When Jessie Came Across the Sea by Amy Hest might work. Watch the Stars Come Out by Riki Levinson is another picture book. Molly's Pilgrim by Barbara Cohen might also be a possibility.
