job fair
By Kim

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi there!
I've never been to one yet but I plan on it this year. My suggestion would be to wear something like you would wear in a classroom to teach. I doubt you would be underdressed, more likely overdressed...but
hey that would get their attention and that's the point. I've been on several interviews where the principal had on shorts and a t-shirt so sometimes they don't care what they are wearing. The point is, they will be looking at you. They will only pay attention to those trying to impress them. If a prospective teacher comes in wearing shorts and a t-shirt while everyone else is wearing
dress slacks, skirts, or dresses, that person will be thought of as not caring to impress the district and therefore forgotten. Remember, getting a job is a huge competition, you've got to beat out the rest. Don't do what everyone else is doing, rather try to be better. You should take your resume with you and on approach to the districts, have one out and available to hand to them. Say something like..."Hi, my name is....." tell them a little about yourself, for example.."i graduated 2001 and have done 2 interims since then" then give them your resume and say "I would appreciate your cooperation." That'll get their attention. Most importantly be confident. Good luck and let us know.
