I've learned that the credentials are your degrees. I had the same question. If you look it up in the dictionary, as my mentor teacher did for me, it means degrees. For references, put the references of people who really know you as a teacher. Such as your mentor teacher and the principal. I would put copies of your references and such in your portfolio and give the originals to the credential file.
