I'm in western NY too. You can sub without certification for 45 days in public schools. Private schools may let you sub more. I think there is an exception if you are enrolled in courses toward earning your degree in Education. Call the college you are considering for your Bachelor's degree. They may be able to tell you. You'll need to call the human resource department at a district you want to sub in to find a position. Most are in need of per diem subs and if you call they will send you a packet of forms to fill out. The need for fingerprints has delayed many from subbing. But some districts are allowing you to sign a waiver and then you may sub without having your prints back. Hope this helps.
