Confidentiality
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi all,
I agree with Sue's advice to you...a mentor is there to help you with anything and everything you need. On the confidentiality question, with the mentees that are on staff (hired new and nearly new teachers),
I am not able to discuss ANY specifics with their administrators. However, I do ask for help and ideas without stating a person, problem or issue because they are a wealth of information and support for me. My situation with my student teacher is different. She is not under contract with the district, and I did ask for my administrator's help in order to write an action plan to assist
her in curriculum and instruction, and classroom management issues. I wanted to give as much support as possible, and as quickly as possible. When you're mentoring a new teacher, you're there to lend an ear, hand and heart; I hope a student teacher will have the 'seeds' of my best practices because we've worked together closely for months to benefit the same children...Best of luck, and let us know if we can help in any way...We'd like to hear how you're doing!!! ;-D
