Me, too!
By Candace

Clip to ScrapBook
Melissa, I have the same problem. We use our voices so much during the day. I think I talk louder than I need to, so I try to talk in a normal tone of voice, instead of trying to talk a little louder than usual (as if THAT
will make them listen to me!!). Also, whenever it would be appropriate, I ask a student to read a story aloud, instead of doing it myself. Or a student who got a 100 on the spelling pretest - I'll ask HER to give the spelling test on Friday, complete with making up her own sentences as examples for each word. In other words, use the students when you can. If you have parent volunteers
doing other things for you - they love to read stories to kids. If you were planning to read aloud and they happen to be there, ask them. The talking a little lower though, seemed to make the biggest difference. When you talk even a little louder, it's a strain on your voice.
