Ok, before anyone jumps me, yes, I do teach art!And yes, I wear jeans on a regular basis! But i try and dress it up a bit! Ok, my theory, actually borrowed it from a coworker!
ELEMENTARY STUDENTS ARE MOIST! True, | isn't it? My solution to a never ending problem...I shop GoodWill and Salvation Army! And kind find some great deals. I got so sick and tired of ruining nice clothes (and I do not mean hose and heels...my kids chuckle if I ever dress for church!) The little ones hug you all of the time and you have a hand print on the backside which of course is hot pink on your great khakis...

the older ones are clumsy and dump a royal blue container of paint that does not wash out! Know what I mean!As for administration and dress code...bargin it in your contract, do NOT just give in to it, if you do not already have it. It can be a powerful tool come contract time.
And my last words, you will (probably) out last any admin/principal...so bide your time! Or do more hands on!
