You meant me!
By Jan

Clip to ScrapBook
What you wrote in your original message here is identical to your response to my original entitled "Do u love teaching? Tell me why" (just below), which I wrote after a year of daily turmoil - going back and forth about
whether to stay in teaching or get out. I resigned six weeks ago and was asking for teachers to share what helped them cope with the frustrations. During that difficult year, I looked on the internet for anything to help teachers feeling burned out, I looked for books, spoke with a respected teacher at my school and even my principal and got no suggestions or help. Your response was
that it is "criminal" to quit. I prefer the response of a teacher at my school that admired me for quitting when I knew I was burned out. She knew other teachers who stayed in and took it out on the kids and thought I was courageous for quitting before I let that happen. I know that you wrote what you did out of a strong sense of commitment to the profession, but do you really think that will help someone who doesn't know if they can take another day of it? I can assure you it will not.
