Fractions
By Tammy

Clip to ScrapBook
Welcome to my own personal H___!! I teach in a Catholic school. Our diocese issued new standards and tests for each standard to be given. They do not require fractions to be taught in 4th grade AT ALL!!! I have to teach
ALL fraction concepts in 5th grade and they are expected to pass a comprehensive test when we're done. By the way, I can't test just a few skills at a time. I've asked, begged, pleaded for changes because it's just too much for the kids to comprehend at one time. They get the concepts mixed up. I spent an entire 9 weeks teaching all of these fraction concepts this year. I gave the
test last week and 5 out of 27 passed. It's horrible! Now I have 9 weeks to teach decimals, measurement, geometry, and algebra and give those tests. There's just no way!
