Running out of steam By Grace

I know just how you feel. I am sitting here not really looking forward to another day's struggle tomorrow. I have a tough class this year too and they really wear you down after a while because they are so demanding. So,| how to cope. First of all I try not to get involved in any moaning sessions that other teachers may be having. This does not help and only serves to make you more tired and depressed. I try my very best to praise the good kids and the ones who are not so good but who really try for some of the time. I know that my mood reflects on them. We wrote poems last week about happiness and sadness | | and it was amazing how many of them wrote that happiness was when I awarded them Pupil of the week. Sadness for many was when I was displeased with them. This made me think that even those who seem not to care what you think, really do deep down. As for the sexual advances, I would just make sure to keep a record of everything that happens. To lift your own spirits you may need to do some good hard exercise in the fresh air and give yourself a bit of a boost or do something silly. My husband was under terrible work stress a few weeks ago and we went out for an early morning walk when he couldn't sleep and ended up skipping like too kids down the road when there were no cars coming!! It really made him feel better. Well I think I have just run out of steam so I am off to bed. I hope things work out well for you and you can try to keep a positive outlook. Good luck Grace
