Maternity leave in my school district
By Amy

Clip to ScrapBook
If you were a new teacher in my school district, you get to use your "10 days" then after that, every school day missed is considered a "dock day". A dock day is where you are docked from your pay check what you make daily.
So, for example, if you make $300 a day and you missed 20 days you would owe or be docked for $6000!!!! They deduct the pay from your "last day of work" checks all the way up to your summer checks and there is a possibility that you may not get any checks at all if you are docked a large amount. Or your may even get money deducted into the next school year's checks! I know this
sounds horrible, but is our school district's way of encouraging you to either save up your days or to have a baby during the summer. Either way, I think the policy is not very good and not flexible for pregnant moms!!!!!
