I understand your situation
By Carolyn

Clip to ScrapBook
This seems to be the time of year when they are doing their planning for next year's transfers, retirements, etc. In December, I was officially placed on notice that I would be "assigned" to the brand-new middle school which
is opening up in our district due to cutbacks in my own school. The Personnel Director has raved about how wonderful I will be at the middle school and how no elementary positions have opened up yet. Even my present principal has been telling me to take that job, since he doesn't know what, if anything, will be available for next year in the elementary grades (there should be something!),
and he doesn't want me to be left without a job altogether. Still, I have told Personnel twice that I don't want to "serve time" in middle school again, and that I just plain don't like middle school kids. I have also told the principal to whom I have been assigned that I am interested in working at the elementary school where he is currently principal. Still, I receive the middle school e-mails. I remain on their list. I have had to go to bat for myself, contacting elementary principals, since I feel that my principal and the Personnel Director won't do it for me.

Good luck. I guess we both need it.
