Traiblazers and Underpants
By sue d.

Clip to ScrapBook
Thanks for the replies. I am glad to know that I am not the only teacher who thinks that Trailblazers is a waste of money a poor way to teach math. After the board meeting, it was decided that no, the Underpants book will
not be banned from the library, but it WILL BE BANNED from being used as a read aloud. From the replies here, I can see both sides. I would never use it it my class anyway, because I don't have any low or unmotivated readers FOR ONCE!! Yeah! I am feeling okay about the school district, as the head of Curr. and Instruction is pondering a supplemental computation program even though
I think we're to keep Trailblazers for a while to use as "Math Labs," for problem solving skills. I will pick and choose lessons as I see fit to use from the program. Otherwise, I am teaching tough skills and giving them lots of computation practice. It is not fair to teach something completely foreign to what's going to be on their state tests, so I'm not. Thanks for the responses.
