training kids and recertification
By Starley

Clip to ScrapBook
It does take awhile to train kids to function without the teacher. I spend the first 6 weeks "playing cop", but then they get it. It takes a few "OK, since you are having trouble working with others. You will need to get out your book and work page ?? So, you can practice and not just chat." They would much rather have support and work with others, so the off-task behavior is very limited. A glance or "turn your card" redirects quickly.

I agree, we should not have to out-of-pocket money for training. I remember when I was fresh out of school..I found most professional development was methods or strategies I had just been taught in college. As time has passed, I find them more valuable. Guess that means I am getting old.
