I received my permanent teaching certificate after 2 years of teaching. Right now we are having a battle with the Ontario goverment over teacher testing. They want teachers to attend 14 workshops etc. over 5 years. It's a pilot project right now....many teachers received notices that they have been selected. Our union has told everyone to refuse so it will be interesting to see how it turns out. I personally attend workshops etc. throughout the year for my own professional development. I don't like the idea of being TOLD to. I also don't think that we should have to pay. Most courses offered by the board are free.....I hope they stay that way!
