We are going the same way
By Ohio

Clip to ScrapBook
Once upon a time, Ohio had permanent certificates. But Now we are headed to licensure, which means that yep you have 5 years to get 18 CEU's (or 6 semester hours). It is the new kid on the block I feel sorry for! They will get a 2 year from college, allowed a 5year if they pass all sorts of regulations and then to renew 5 Yr. they must have masters...Poor saps. We will have no new teachers soon...who wants to jump the hoops for so little money?
As for getting 18 CEU's which is also 180 hours, we do have options. If you can read through the paperwork, you can use things like Local inservice hours, National Boards, mentoring, etc.
So being required to take college classes is not a big issue here. Just have to be creative!
