Writing
By Michelle

Clip to ScrapBook
When I taught 4th grade my students were terrible with there writing and they were all pretty below level. I went to this writing class for children. This is what they showed me. When I did a writing assignment with the
class the next month, the other teachers were pretty impressed.

Model first

1. have the children brainstorm of words associated with the topic and write all the words on the board.
2. Have the children pick out 5 or 6 words that they really would like to use in there writing.
3. Have the children write a sentence for each word related to that topic.
4. Have
the children then take the 5 or 6 sentences and put them in order that makes sense.
5. The child can then take that paragraph and have the other students make comments.

This helps the children get there thoughts down and then worry about the order and not so focused on the main sentence first.
