I moved from a small, closely knit and wonderfully supportive school to a larger rural school and was totally dismayed at the negative attitude to teaching in general and the back stabbing that went on all the time. This type of negativity erodes your positive feelings after a while and I saw several, new, young teachers sucked into the nasty atmosphere. There too, rumors abounded! You are so right to get out of that school- it seemed that no matter how many new teachers came in, the general atmosphere remained poisonous.
