I'd be as fed up as you!

Clip to ScrapBook
Wow, it must be so difficult to work in a setting like that. We have a community where there sometimes is a lot of gossip, etc., but our staff is not like that.

You know perhaps the best thing to do with this new gossip,
is to make a joke out of it. Walk into the staff room (especially when the one who started it is there) and just laugh and say, you wouldn't believe the rumour I heard this week, it seems that I now have two lovers plus a husband. Trust me my husband is more than enough for me! And then leave it like that. I'm sure they'll get the message - you'll set everyone else straight as well.
And perhaps you'll embarrase the one who started it and she'll think twice about starting rumours about you.

I had a similar rumour once from the community. My brother came up and stayed for 2 months to do some substitute teaching when he was finished with some extra schooling he was taking for his masters. We are only 5 years apart in age so a number of the community decided I was living with a new man in the community. They found a way to talk to my neighbour who was also a colleague of mine. She so much enjoyed setting them straight.

I don't know why some find it necessary to start rumours or for some reason to find wrong with colleagues or those in their communities, but they do.

I'm glad you have decided to move, sometimes it just easier than fighting the way things are.
