There is a Magic Tree House Chapter Book called The Giant Germ -- the reading level is about 3rd grade and I'm not too sure 6th graders would go for it. My third graders love the chapter books.Close to Home: A Story of | the Polio Epidemic by Lydia Weaver is part of the Once Upon America series and a short chapter book -- written at about 4th grade reading level James Cross Giblin has a terrific book called When Plague Strikes -- The Black Death, Smallpox, Aids -- probably on at least a middle school reading level but really interesting reading. These books are definitely below a sixth grade level | |
but are good simple introductions to the topic --Why I Cough, Sneeze, Shiver, Hicuup and Yawn by Melvin Berger Bacteria and Viruses by Leslie Jean LeMaster Germs Make Me Sick! by Melvin Berger
