Student Teaching By Cathy-Dee

Although I've been teaching now for 9 years, I can still remember my student teaching experiences. I was so nervous and scared before my first class and even the second round. I even had dreams the weeks leading up to my| teaching experiences. My second round was with grade 4 and and I dreamed that they were all giant sized, and they asked me questions only university students would even think of asking. But of course my experiences turned out great and I learned so much. Yes the workload tends to be quite a bit, but it's do-able. I was glad I had decided to take time off my part-time job so I could | | concentrate on the teaching. I learned so much and knew after the first week that teaching was definitely for me. And you actually don't mind the work-load because it is fun to plan lessons that you get to teach, do displays for the class, prepare materials, etc. From what I've read and heard on this board and others most student teachers start out observing and gradually take on teaching assignments until they are teaching at least 1/2 the day during their first student teaching. During the longer round you tend to teach for the majority of the time. You'll do fine and I'm sure you will just love your class and learn so much from your experience.
