My advice By Amy

EJC- I too have a degree in something other than education. I have a BA in psychology. I always thought that I would love to teach and others discouraged me from doing so for various reasons. I decided to pursue psychology,| which I love, but was still unsure as to what I wanted to do when I left college. I worked for a year doing various things and then quit my job and started to substitute elementary school in my hometown. I fell in love and knew this was what I was meant to do. I thrived on being in the classroom and knowing that I could have an impact on the lives of children. So, I enrolled in | | a Master of Education with teacher certification program. I have never felt more at home in my life. I just finished my student teaching and am now searching for a job. Like you, I sometimes wonder if I wasted years of my life on a degree I'll never use. I have come to the conclusion that no education is a waste of time. You can alwasys use your computer expertise in the classroom as I can always use my psychology background. Technology is a huge part of education now. I think if you truly love teaching that you should pursue it. I have never regretted my decision as I know that this career path is right for me. It sounds like it might be right for you too! Good luck!
