Be there for your student teacher. Give him/her freedom to teach, but be there to offer encouragement, advice, and just spend time with her. This is something I am sorely missing in my student teaching experience. My coop is never in the class, and never has time to listen to me. She is always in the hall talking to other teachers. I feel quite on my own. Student teaching is lonely and frustrating, and the best thing a cooperating teacher can do is BE THERE for their student teacher, and make them feel at home, welcomed, and let them know that you are there to support them, or just listen when they need someone to talk to.
