"Attention getter"
By r2002

Clip to ScrapBook
I'm at a school that uses CMCD (Consistency Management & Cooperative Discipline) tactics in their classrooms to prevent behavior problems. The teachers have red & green cards (a tad bit smaller than an 8 1/2 X 11 sheet)
that they laminate and punch holes in and tie strings in the holes so that they can wear it around their necks. The red one says "Teacher Time" and has an hour glass or clock on it, and the kids know that this means that the teacher is talking and is not to be interrupted. The kids know that red means "Stop" and in this case, "Stop talking." When the teacher wears the green one around
her neck, it means "GO," and the kids are allowed to talk and ask questions. The green card usually says "Student Time" and has a clock or hour glass on it.

I see this tactic used effectively very often.
