Mix and Match
By Connie

Clip to ScrapBook
Have students draw a picture that illustrates the spelling word on one card. On another card have students write the word and underline the phonic rule that the spelling word is teaching. I have each student create 4 of the spelling words since there are 20 spelling words weekly and there are 5 students per group. On the following day they place the cards down and mix and match with a partner or more people in their table. My fifth graders love it! To get the points they need to find the match but also must spell it correctly or put it back allowing someone else to match that pair and try spelling it.
