Thinking Back
By Michelle

Clip to ScrapBook
I student taught last semester and now I'm teaching 3rd grade. We didn't have to set goals, but here's what I wish I knew more about now.

-Parents, parents, parents - What to expect, how to communicate with them, how soon
to contact them, parent/teacher conferences
-Special education - What the process is, how to refer, how to tell if a student needs special education
-Directions - how to give them clearly and effectively, strategies to use when students aren't listening or "getting" your directions

I'm sure as time goes by I'll find there's a lot more I don't know. This is what came up since

beginning teaching.

Good luck with student teaching. I did learn a lot, but I'm finding it's a totally different and new experience being in charge of your own classroom. :-)
