I sub in Middle and High Schools. I introduce myself as Mister Nelson, but tell the students they can call me by my first name, as long as they also use my last name. When they ask what my first name is, I say "Mister". I seem to be "Old School" but in my opinion, students, even K, should be addressing their teachers formally. If you have a hard to pronuce last name, shorten it to what ever works ("Mr. W"?)but keep the formal title. I beleive I'm their teacher, not their best buddy. Jn
